Celebrating Water Safety Month

Celebrating Water Safety Month

At Springs Water Park, every day is an opportunity to promote and practice water safety. With summer fun just around the corner, May—National Water Safety Month—is the perfect time to spotlight the safety practices that keep our guests safe and smiling all season long.

Our team of Ellis & Associates certified lifeguards are trained to the highest standards in the industry. Each lifeguard completes courses in First Aid, CPR, and Lifeguarding to become certified. But the training doesn’t stop there—our guards also participate in weekly continuing education and in-service drills to keep their skills sharp and their response times fast.

Water Safety Tips

Below are some important safety tips to help you and your family stay safe around the water:

  1. Always supervise children near water—even if they’re good swimmers. Constant adult supervision saves lives.
  2. Never swim alone. Use the buddy system, no matter your age or skill level.
  3. Learn CPR and basic first aid. Quick action in an emergency can make all the difference.
  4. Know and follow pool rules—no diving in shallow areas, no horseplay, and no running on slippery surfaces.
  5. Use U.S. Coast Guard–approved flotation devices for non-swimmers. Inflatable toys are not a substitute for safety.
  6. Enter the water feet first, especially in unfamiliar areas. Head-first entries can lead to serious injuries.
  7. Learn to swim. It’s a skill that can last a lifetime. Not a swimmer yet? Enroll in lessons and always wear a Coast Guard–approved life jacket.
  8. Wear brightly colored swimwear. It improves visibility for both lifeguards and supervising adults.
  9. Stay hydrated and take frequent breaks. Fatigue and dehydration can lead to accidents.
  10. Listen to the lifeguards. They’re trained professionals here to keep everyone safe—please follow their instructions at all times.

Your Safety is Our Priority
At Springs Water Park, we believe water safety is a shared responsibility—and when everyone does their part, we can all enjoy a safer, more fun experience. Whether you're riding down a slide, floating in the lazy river, or splashing in the children’s interactive area, remember: Safety starts with awareness.
